Which anti-virus software offers the best protection? |
This question is asked everytime someone brings an infected computer into our "Geeks Now" shops; the candid answer is "there is no one infallible Anti-Virus software solution", because just as some antivirus software are better than others at defending one's computer, others have a lesser affect.
In my opinion the number one reason there is no one superior antivirus is that viruses are usually preceeded by harmless, almost familiar and friendly looking, Trojans. The second reason; 'there is no one superior antivirus' because of the high number of mutating viruses; these produce 3,000 new viral variants per day.

What is a 'Wipe and Reload'? |
A 'Wipe and Reload' is a last resort technique in a long line of virus removal processes or techniques used or recommended by 'Geeks Now'. We, at 'Geeks Now', would not recommend use of the 'Wipe and Reload' technique, unless viruses cannot be removed with our technically favored anti-virus removal processes or techniques.
With a 'Wipe and Reload' the recorded memory on your computer's internal hard drive is erased (Wiped), and this always includes all data, programs, and the operating system, after which a new or clean set of memory will need to be installed (Reloaded).
At 'Geeks Now' before we perform a 'Wipe', you are advised this is the final or 'last resort' technique available to remove viruses or malware. You are informed a Back-up of your computer's internal disk memory is necessary to safeguard your existing data, and this Back-up will include securing your existing locally filed email, music, word documents, spreadsheets, pictures, or your uniquely identified data, etc... You are told, 'Geeks Now cannot Back-up or later 'Reload', previously installed applications or programs without your copy of the original software or software licenses made available for the 'Reload'.
